So my summer has finally begun, but it's been pretty shitty so far.
Had an alright paper (I hope!) then went to meet Aly, Wan er, and Char for dinner and trip-planning at J8. We were mostly productive.. Much more productive than our Taiwan trip planning, definitely. Haha.
'Let's have themed dressing for each day!'
'What if I don't dress according to the theme?'
'Oh, that's alright. You'll be our photographer for the day.'
-
'Oh I know! Our last day can be a tribute to the rest of Jenacawy! Each of us will have to pick one of the remaining four members and dress like them.'
'OKAY LA, I SACRIFICE MYSELF AND DRESS LIKE JOANNE OKAY.'
-
It would have been a lovely night, if not for how it ended.
See that cut there? Yes. I burst my tyre, resounding bang and all, when I mounted a curb just outside my place.
So, excuse me while I hibernate and abstain from driving for two thousand years.
Then today was another rubbish one itself. Had my blood drawn for testing aaaaannnnnnnnnnndddd... I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I'VE EVER SAID ABOUT WANTING TO DONATE BLOOD. Yes, I shut my eyes but couldn't shut my mouth throughout, exclaiming all sorts of strange things to the poor nurse. And my arm still feels sore now. Bleargh. And other things.
Okay back to trip-planning. I'm quite busy for someone who's supposed to be free haha. I can't wait for Monday:D
Last paper this Wednesday but well, look at me, I DON'T CARE. Haha.
(Okay I think Jo is more epic at prioritising than I am. :D)
Anyway, I visited the Titanic exhibition with my brother two days ago because, you know.. I'm very free. Haha. Glad I made it in the end, because it was certainly an interesting experience. It wasn't that informative, nor the exhibits particularly special, but I enjoyed the role-play aspect to it. Each visitor was given a 'boarding pass', complete with identity and back story, and travelling details!
I got to be a 19 year-old girl named Kate, on board as a 2nd class passenger with her married candy-store boss Henry, whom she was eloping with. Kate didn't know it at the time, but she was pregnant with loverboy's baby.
I knew I'd survive the disaster:D
On display was a list of the survivors and fatalities, categorised by class. I found my name on the survivors' list and ran off happily, before remembering my lover and returning to find him dead. I KNOW IT'S JUST ROLE-PLAY, BUT I COULDN'T HELP FEELING A TWINGE OF SADNESS THAT I GOT ON THE LIFEBOAT AND LEFT MY BOYFRIEND TO DIE.
I really salute all those who left their male loved ones on board and got on the life-boats alone. Bloody painful, knowing that you're leaving them to certain death.
I double, triple-salute all those who chose to stay on board instead of being separated from their husbands.
'I will not be separated from my husband. As we have lived, so we will die together.' -Ida Straus, first-class passenger.
Such situations make me damn freaking ashamed to be a Slytherin through and through. Because I know I'd grab all my loved ones, including the men, and escape on the first life-boat. Bleargh. Okay, at least my family and friends stand to benefit haha.
Anyway, the exhibit was a no-photos-allowed one, so, naturally, I have several to share! :D
(The Vanishing Cabinet!)
My brother spent AGES at the iceberg exhibit, trying to leave his hand-print. He even went back after we'd finished viewing the entire exhibition, to.. Uhm, freeze his fingers? I don't know, don't ask me. That resulted in our mad Amazing Race-esque dash for the last train from City Hall. Initially wanted to take the Circle Line back to Caldecott from Bayfront, but there were no more trains past the Stadium stop. So we had to get off at Promenade, at 2337h, and run to City Hall. The malls were all closed, so we had to cut through the outside of the buildings before finally finding an entrance at Marina Square! Where we stopped for 1-for-1 Minute Maid at 7-11. TOTALLY LIKE AN AMAZING RACE. HAHAHA. Task completed! And my stupid brother insisted on 'checking in' every dozen feet or so. Reached the City Hall gantry at around 2350h, with just a minute to spare. Très dramatique.
(And then we realised that that wasn't the last train.)
An adventure indeed.
Shall leave off with this video- an Adele cover by Victor Kim (from YTF) and Andy Lange. My favourite rendition of Someone Like You. Merlin, it's damn beautiful, and exactly how this song should sound. I think Adele lacks a bit of that tender quality on her track. And well, I cannot really take her seriously, because I heard 'Don't forget me, I'm fat' instead of 'I begged', the first time I listened to the song. I can't help but improv my own lyrics whenever I listen to her version haha.
NEVER MIND I'LL FIND SOMETHING TO EAT I BAKE NOTHING BUT THE BEST COOKIE-EESS DON'T FORGET ME I'M FAT I REMEMBER YOU SAID SOMETIMES IT LASTS WITH FOOD AND SOMETIMES IT EXPIRE-EESS
The colourful sunset that you meant to take a photo of
Leave it till later, There's always later. Look up again and it's gone, Hues faded, blending into The darkened clouds So naturally, so easily No, nothing ever waits (Tell yourself it's alright, There's always tomorrow night)
Tomorrow night rolls around The sunset is not as beautiful as it was Yesterday.
And every subsequent sunset Lurks in the shadow of the one you missed. Not quite so brilliant; shrouded by mist Dimmed by the reminder of expectations not met
But we learn (why regret?) Today is the most we're gonna get Hold on now don't let it go Snap that picture in the evening glow
Before tomorrow night rolls around And the sunset is not as beautiful as it is Today
Every subsequent sunset May not compare to the one you didn't miss Perhaps brilliant, perhaps shrouded by mist But what does it matter, When you've already made today last forever?
That poem you've always meant to write, That boy you've always liked
Today I froze my fleeting thoughts on a piece of paper And kissed him before he got away- Made these moments last
